Descrições/informações adicionaisThe natural products have been used by the mankind since his origin. The searches for the relief and cure of diseases by the ingestion of herbs and leaves maybe have been the first forms of its use. The plant Symphonia globulifera L. f., "anani or uanani" as it is known popularly, which belongs to the family Clusiaceae. The decoction of the peel is used for the treatment of cutaneous leishmaniose, in this case, it must be scrubbed in the skin and the powder of the peel is used as cicatrizing. This research had as objective the Phytochemical study of the Ethanoic Crude Extract of the stem of Symphonia globulifera L. f. to identify the classes of secondary metabolites, to evaluate its cytotoxicity of the larvas of Artemia salina and to test its antimicrobial activity through the use of stumps of gram-positive bacteria (Esphylococcus aureus ATCC25923) and of the gram-negatives (Klebsiella pneumoniae ATCC13883 and Escherichia coli ATCC25922). The Phytochemical study was accomplished in agreement to the technique described by Bushes apud Gonçalves (2011), in which was made test for ten classes of compositions, presenting positive result just for sugar reducers, phenols and tannins, alkaloids, depsideos and depsidonas and resin. And negative for organic acids, such as polissacarideos, saponines espumidicas, steroids and triterpenoides and flavonoids. In agreement with the pharmacological activities the tannins are used to treat diarrhea, rheumatism, in inflammatory problems and healing. The phenols, antimicrobial activities, antitumor and antiviral, the depsideos and depsidonas recognized for presenting antioxidant properties, antivirals and antitumor, the alkaloids are used because they present antitumor, diuretic and antiviral activities and the resin is used as purgative and plaster for rip. The citotoxity test in Artemia salina was accomplished starting from a technique described by Araújo (2010), which determined CL50=710,95 g/mL (BioEstat 5.0), what is an indicator
